Although you may need to swallow your pride to take in this type of criticism but even trolls sometimes do provide useful feedback, even when they never really intended to. 2 situations:

  • 1. You sometimes have a troll who simply says the first thing they think of when they see your work and although they can be obnoxious, it might be useful. The key here is to read between the lines and see what parts of your work they didn’t criticize.
  • 2. Trolls who express unpopular views. Some people might not even consider these people trolls since they’re not purposely trying to give you a hard time. Rather, they’re like the little kid who isn’t afraid to point out that the emperor has no clothes. Their criticism can be quite scathing to take in some times but can be extremely valuable. From my experience, sometimes i only realize this years after having received the traumatic bit of criticism.
