Lots of hedge fund managers make millions in Finance while the average Joe in that industry makes far less than in Tech but all you hear about in the media are those rare fat cats. Ditto for when I was considering grad school in college and my profs all encouraged going straight away without working first; I never got to hear from someone who didn’t fare so well on that path.
