I feel like this issue has been made far worse than it really ought to be due to the extreme political polarization these days. But guess what, facts (and truth) don't care about your feelings. They don't care about your politics or if you're the only person on the planet who believes in such fact. Nor does it care that I tremendously despise the person (who shall remain nameless) who often spouts this line though I still agree with it 100%. But I digress..

I remember the political climate in the US (and the world) around the beginning of the pandemic when the lab leak theory was first brought up and how it may have exacerbated the polarization. And it didn't help that I'm Chinese American and there was tremendous pressure on people like me to join in the backlash against the lab leak theory rather than actually finding the truth. Why? Because a lot of Chinese Americans disliked Trump. I very much despised him myself but I also felt the same about the Chinese government as well. People who had my combination of views were very much ostracized and my pursuit of truth over any political polarization didn't help at all.

IMO, at this point, knowing whether or not the virus escaped from the lab isn't gonna help much. It's already out, infected billions, and killed millions.
