I suppose I should ignore haters which is the easy way out but then they'll just continue by moving on to their next victim. So instead, what I do is I question everything they say. Ask them to define every insult they make and ask why every time they say something derogatory. Pretend you're stupid and don't understand the full scope of their attack and make them explain every part of that in detail. If they respond by saying you're stupid or something, then ask them to "define stupid".. this will wear them out while expending minimal effort on your part. These are just the guidelines but the main thing is to try to get the last word in since many of these haters absolutely despise it if they can't get the last word in.
