I think INTPs do not have a perfect job or niche; we thrive on frequent change. That being said, certain areas tend to appeal to us more than others. Entrepreneurship can be appealing although it has a hugh failure rate for any type. Programming, as imperfect as you've described it, is probably one of the better fits for this personality type, though it may eventually come down to the cultural fit at the company.
