I'm hoping for Web3 to become the next big thing not because I'm heavily invested in it (I only have a few thousand dollars exposed to crypto market risk which doesn't include any stablecoins) but because it can potentially provide a far more egalitarian way for people to make a living, especially for highly skilled social misfits like me. For example, although so-called "office politics" won't completely disappear in a Web3 workplace, working for a DAO with major policies implemented as smart contracts can eliminate some of the human discretion used to make major management decisions which can be influenced by politics and certain human biases. Also, the desire of (some) Web3 participants to remain anonymous will likely facilitate ways of working and collaborating online that are conducive to asynchronous communication because face to face and video calls and interviews are to be avoided if one wants to remain anonymous.

Do we need Web3 in order to create this dream workplace of the future that I envision? No. But the design (and constraints) put forth by Web3 make it a lot more likely.
