It’s important to take action and reading more is no substitute for action.
BUT, that being said, taking action also takes time. You have 24 hours everyday that will never be coming back. I don’t think reading just one self help book and immediately acting on it is wise although it’ll probably be better than reading 100 books and taking 0 action.
My approach to self improvement is to be extremely parsimonious with my time.
First, I rarely actually sit down to read books; I listen to audiobooks on my commute to not consume any extra time. Second, I might read (listen to) a dozen or so books before I find one that I’d like to apply. I only want to spend my time applying the best and most targetted advice and finding that advice may involve listening to many audiobooks and podcasts before serendipitously stumbling on it.
